Delta Refuses to Lobby Feds Against Porno-Scanners

by George Donnelly on November 11, 2010

We Won’t Fly reader John C writes:

I am a Delta Skymiles member. I just called Delta Airlines and spoke with a customer service supervisor. I told her that I am opposed to the full body scanners (porno-scanners) and the invasive pat down procedures being utilized at the security checkpoints and that I will not be flying again while these methods are used. She told me Delta Airlines has no intention of lobbying the federal government to oppose the full body scanners or the pat down procedures and Delta fully supports these procedures.

Thank you John C for participating in the campaign and making your voice heard! Thank you for showing us all exactly why we need the We Won’t Fly campaign. The airlines are not working with us. Yet they want our business. That is a contradiction. They need to get on our side.

I highly doubt that a SkyMiles call center supervisor has the authority to speak about this (or has the knowledge. Do you really think a call center supervisor knows?

If you really want to know the stance of an airline or voice your concern over this, reach to the correct department. The SkyMiles call center could care less.

Contact who matters – the airline government affairs department or Air Transport Association in DC. They are the lobbying arm of the airlines.

Delta has a long history of screwing their customers. When Politech was covering the outrageous CAPPS program I provided an update specifically about Delta since I was both a platinum frequent flyer and because they both implemented the proposed program and lied to their customers. See {https://seclists.org/politech/2003/Nov/66}.

Since they won’t fight for their customers, they will not be getting my business.

I stopped flying as of December 2009. No airline is going to protect their customer as long as said airline continues to make profit.

While I am very frustrated with our famous TSA, our government and our airlines, I am completely appalled at the complacency and indifference of the average American Citizen. Why in the world are we still flying and are continuing forward with full body scanners and invasive pat-downs? I understand that many people are in absolute need to fly, but I see no effort of any kind coming from general public to take any steps to curb the TSA abuse. Not even a reduction in flights, nothing.

There is one thing that is certain and needs to be understood. No one is going to listen to any complaints unless there is a possibility that profits may be compromised.

Ladies and Gentlemen. If we want to make a difference, there is one and the most effective way to do so. Hit them in the pocket. Hit them hard. If even a half of travelers would suspend their travel for at least 2 weeks, there would be eyes looking and ears listening. You can bet on that.

We can make things pre-9/11 if enough of us desire to do so. We do not need to resort to any action other than persistence and patience. We need to understand that if We, The People, do not address this issue, no one else will.

Next time I fly and if a TSA agent touches my private parts, I will place him under citizens arrest for sexual assult or battery. Under the California Penal Code, The law enforcement officer has to take them in to custody or issue him a citation to appear in court, if they don’t it, they (law enforcement) are breaking the law and could get into trouble. Maybe folks should start doing that. TSA agents are crossing the line and need to puit in their place.

John C was Bulls***ed. That or he doesn’t know how to write a BS story..Come on that’s as polite and respectful as it gets when I am lied to. Here is a real story. I have an Elevate account with Virgin. They sent me an email with sales info and I responded that I will not be flying until the new machines and the frisking is discontinued. That move cost them 20 west coast trips per year, that’s $ 4 grand. I told them to close my miles account and keep the miles. I think the airlines will figure it out for us. Don’t fly and the industry will be screaming for the head of the TSA HEAD.

What will TSA do when a terrorist flies with a bomb in one of his body cavities? So what’s next anal and vaginal digital exams for those who won’t or can’t go thru the scanners?
