I was about to delete an offensive comment on this blog – one of the very few we get – and thought, hmm, I wonder where this guy is posting from? Because, really, it is quite unusual for us to get nasty comments. Lo and behold, the troll posted to our website from an IP address controlled by the federal government’s Department of Homeland Security! Here is the taxpayer-funded troll’s gem of a comment, for your entertainment:

Fuck you, Fuck all you cocksuckers, you wont change anything. ride the bus, TSA is here to stay there doing a great job keeping americia safe.

(Later, I checked our comment database and found 19 more of these gems from the same IP address. See below.)

Here is a link to the screenshot of the WordPress comment. As you can see, the IP address it was posted from is 216.81.80.134. Here is the publicly accessible whois record for that IP:

Some questions come to mind:

  • Is this an official statement?
  • If not, is it an accurate representation of the DHS position?
  • Was this person on the public dime when he or she posted this?
  • Who posted this and what is their position with DHS?

This is not the first time we have been trolled by individuals connected to the TSA. Someone posted a personal attack on me from an IP belonging to mitre.org, a corporation whose core competency is securing federal government contracts, including DHS and TSA ones. Any effective TSA resistance threatens not only the TSA itself but also the bureaucrats who got us to this point and the corporations who are getting paid for the technology.

EDIT: In fact, there are are 19 comments from that IP address in our comment database! Here are some choice ones:

November 9:

Funny site you have going on here, looking forward to the guest comic postings.. what a bunch of rubes you all are.. BTW TSA officers make on avg $14.50 per hour to start. Much more than your bottle collecting jobs you have.

In this one, the troll identifies himself as “Butch Forman” with an email address of [email protected].

You people are really messed up. That you sit around and put forth the hatred that you spew. If any of you are parents who have children, I feel sorry for the kids because you will raise them to be cynical, skeptical and totally paranoid. The TSA who work everyday trying to earn a living are parents, retired professionals, students, ex-law enforcement a whole diverse population of people who are trying to support their families and hope that they are doing what is necessary to protect those who travel. Give it a rest would you and if you feel that way about flying, then do me and the TSA a favor and don’t fly, that is your right, exercise it please. It makes the line at the airport alot shorter for those of us who get it.

You can refuse to fly too. Train, car, bus, boat, walk, bicycle, motorcycle,..You don’t have to fly…You know that TSA perosnnel travel by air also..and they go through security just as anyone lse does….Are you for real or just argumentative…Homeschooled your kids..makes sense now

Another one from that same IP is from “DP” with email address [email protected]. Another one from “Jeff” with email address [email protected].

November 15 from [email protected]

Like I said before; This is turining into one of the best comedy sites on the internet… I love the fact that you have people all wound up about this liar.. Good for your ad dollars I’ll bet.. Ohhh let me guess what you folks have in mind next to generate $$ …. Ummm oh yeah TSA “agents” are really aliens looking for food!!!!!

From “iLoveTSAandtheUSA” with email [email protected]

Do any of you really think TSA is going to care if everyone requests a full body pat down instead of walking through the metal detector or body scanners?
They get to go home once their shift is over, no matter how long the lines are.
Less passengers flying means less work for them!
TSA must be doing something right if no hijackings or attacks have occured on American soil since 9/11.
I’d feel much safer if everyone was screened thoroughly. A terrorist can be anyone.

November 18 from “Anonymous” with email [email protected]

Wow so what you people want is a Private Security firm with no accountability to take over a Federalized, controlled, accountable and impregnable screening force. Good luck, I see an attack in our near future. Americans are so spoiled. You want protection with no loss of freedoms. Think back to 9-11. would you have been saying the same things if this took place right after that day? Grow up and get a life instead of bashing a working system. Everyone hates the IRS but no one complains when a Police officer comes to assist you when your being assaulted. Sounds funny because the tax laws the IRS enforces pays all civil service salaries. Once again society announces its ignorance.

Let me clear this up for you people who clearly are misinformed. At EVERY airport you visit there will be a little sign stating in a blip, that you are voluntarily subimiting youself and your property for screening. So when you walk through, no one is putting a gun to your head and making you fly. its your choice. And because this is a Commercial airline transporting people, it must require that everyone be screened throughly. And because you are so upset and not thinking you fail to realize the simplicity of it. You put your bags in and you walk through. So no it isnt illegal people. Is it illegal for Private companies to do it? no because its security duhhh. Then how is it illegal when TSA does it. You people dont think. And if you read the press reslease from TSA, they state that the images are not kept and that the officer isnt allowed to see theface of the person being screened. If you feel something is off when you go to get scanned, then inform a Law enforcement official or ask for a TSA rep. Simple. Stop throwing out lies and nonsense people. I can imagine you all sitting around thinking up crazy rumors to circulate. Also Im 4 years Army MP and I know a thing or two about security. thanks

November 25 from ” YourWrong” with email [email protected]

Why has your great Opt-Out leader never posted on this site what he would do to keep passengers who choose to fly safe from being blown up? Being a critic is for simpletons – experts however actually have to look for solutions.

Think about it!!!

And there are more. These are just the best ones.

EDIT: I’ll release the screenshot from the WordPress admin interface shortly.

this is why we should abolish the tsa.and homeland security fro that matter.they are the terror threat.first off they have no legal or constitutional authority to have control over anything.they are overpaid security guards.and are in vilolation of everyones rights.the homeland security fusion centers are trying to start trouble.much like the fbi setting up people with false terror plots,so they can say look there is a threat.and that is why we need to take away your rights.be careful what you wish for DHS.if you keep trying to start trouble you just might find it.and don’t underestimate the american people either,or how many of us know ablout your plans for global government.or obama, david rockefeller, cintons, bushes, bilderburgs, napalitano, bernake and the rest of you dildo’s might find yourselves in a fema camp instead of us.and that would be just fine by me.you people don’t represent america or anything good for it.and need to go anyway.

  2. Susan says:

Similarly, the Chinese Communist Party has a division called the “50 Cent Party” to post comments favorable towards the government policies to skew the public opinion on various Internet forums.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/50_Cent_Party

  3. Ian Jefferson says:

TSA employees are in fact just doing their jobs. They don’t set the policy. What’s truly messed up is that the government is involved in this at all, and saying passengers have a “choice” not to fly and therefore submit themselves to extreme scanning upon buying a ticket. Utter nonsense. Who says an airline can’t take passengers without putting them thru the TSA abattoir. Why shouldn’t the airlines themselves conduct security? Want to fly on a “bring your gatt, we don’t care” airline? That’s your choice. Or fly the “junk groping” airline. Again, your choice. The government has no place in screening passengers on private carriers!

    • swarm says:

I agree with almost all, except the “tsa employees are just doing their job” part..i truly could not see myself reaching down and going between peoples legs, job or not ..

    • Joe Jericho says:

So, they are just doing their jobs and saying FU FU FU all along the way and that is cool, right? I mean, it isn’t their fault that they have these jobs, right? My job is fairly invasive, but not of the physical type. I handle myself in a cool and non-judgmental way. I get a lot better results than the aholes who don’t. Of course, the TSA isn’t really results oriented, is it?

    • S. Müller says:

First off, I’m not american. But still following the whole TSA discussion; everyone loves good entertainment.
I think the government has every right to set polices in this area. The fact that in this case they are probably inappropriate doesn’t change this. Crashing airplanes cause damage not only to the people choosing to take risks. Not unlike the recent PB oil spill.

  4. anastas says:

Geez, Sweet and Tender Hooligan is a song by the Smiths.

  5. JPC says:

“BTW TSA officers make on avg $14.50 per hour to start.”

That’s pretty sad. These guys are supposed to be a highly-trained crack force, the last line of defence against terrorists, and they make $14.50 per hour?

I’m not particularly highly paid, and (dividing my salary by annual hours of work) I make twice that much.

Oh well. Please tell me you’ve reported this incident to someone in DHS. While it shouldn’t get the guy fired, it certainly should get him a talking-to from his supervisor about appropriate use of government computing resources, and a disciplinary letter in his personnel file.

And let this be a lesson – if you’re going to post inflammatory material, for God’s sake, wait until you get home from work!

    • JPC says:

As an addendum to my last comment, $14.50 per hour is probably pretty good pay for somebody who cannot spell “America,” fails to distinguish between “there” and “they’re,” regularly uses comma splices and fails to capitalize the first word in a sentence.

Higher pay is (mostly) for people with “book lurnin’.”

    • It’s pretty hilarious. I made $12/hour at my last full-time job. I was an administrative assistant. According to the inflation calculator (https://www.westegg.com/inflation/), that would be the equivalent to $13.96 today.

My responsibilities included covering the front desk for the receptionist’s breaks, doing bank reconciliations, handling vendor returns, occasionally processing purchase orders, handling inventory of our demonstration units, and other office miscellanea.

The TSA’s supposed responsibilities include preventing terrorist attacks on our planes. Adjusted for inflation, they only get paid .54/hour more than I did. Isn’t there something a little – pardon my language – fucked up about that?

  6. Tim says:

It looks like “Butch” had to hurry and finish his post, before his supervisor caught him surfing the ‘net, while on the clock.

All of these posts were ridiculous. It seems like that trait might make a great red flag, when reviewing future posts. Check IPs for all obvious idiots.

  7. Jez says:

What I don’t understand is what they think they are protecting the public from. The underwear bomber was not even close to downing the plane. The only things in danger that day were his genitals.

Now given the injury he sustained, and the fact that the attack had zero chance of success, I doubt it will be repeated. If it is repeated, the outcome would be the same.

So what are the public being protected from?

It seems the TSA have actually helped the terrorists, making Americans afraid to fly. The claims of safety for backscatter x-ray scanners are not convincing, if these lead to one cancer then the TSA has done more damage than the underwear bomber ever could.

Whatever this is about, it isn’t public safety.

  8. Simba Ryan says:

    Sent this in via https://contact.tsa.dhs.gov/DynaForm.aspx?FormID=10

    ……

To the trolls of the WeWontFly blog and to the rest of the TSA,

If you think it is not patriotic to speak my mind, then you clearly need a lesson on how the United States was founded.

If you think it is not right to stand up for what is right, then please tell your story to the men and women who shed their blood to secure the freedoms of the United States that you then in turn corrupt.

If you think it is acceptable for children to be touched and photographed in obscene and indecent fashions, or to have medically disabled people publicly embarrassed and insulted as well as harmed in going through the TSA’s procedures, all in the name of a provable false sense of security, then you are all highly delusional and in desperate need of psychiatric assistance.

If you truly can not see the problems with the so-called “security” put in place by the TSA and the DHS, then you need to look in the mirror and ask yourselves exactly how indoctrinated and brainwashed you are willing to become before you’ve lost your basic humanities.

Lastly, if you do not think the good citizens of this country are not watching and stirring, you are very wrong.

    Sincerely,

    A Patriotic American

Wow so what you people want is a Private Security firm with no accountability to take over a Federalized, controlled, accountable and impregnable screening force.

Oh I just loved that one. Impregnable? lmao. How many times has TSA failed to detect testers’ bombs, weapons, etc.? 75%? More?

What about TSA agents using their badge to circumvent security and smuggle money and guns to what they believed were terrorists? FBI caught them, not TSA.

Would be big joke but it’s not funny.

    • NewYorkDan says:

An “Impregnable screening force” is one that cannot become pregnant. Probably the result of all the GAMMA RAYS from their dangerous SCANNING MACHINES.

  11. Jill Ballard says:

I was feeling kind of low today – the holidays kind of get me down but then I saw this gem of your posting and it really brightened my day. Did they think you wouldn’t be able to see their IP addresses?

Oooohh, such bad language you bad TSA’s.

Thank you for exposing those idiots and hooligans for what they are.

    Happy Holidays,
    Jill

  12. Paul Robinson says:

While I certainly can’t condone the behavior of the government employee (presumably) as it is represented above, I also must condemn your public outing and shaming of him/her. One of the central principles to your cause is that the enhanced screenings are an invasion of privacy. And I strongly agree that a person’s right to privacy is paramount.

When leaving a comment here, it states right on the form that “Your e-mail address will not be published.” Yet, here you are, publishing e-mail addresses and their associated comments, even going a step further and publishing IP addresses too.

So, the right to privacy that you are championing suddenly doesn’t apply when it suits your agenda? Be nobler than your opponent, and don’t weaken your message by denying them the very rights you’re trying to protect. Even if they deserve it.

    • You have ZERO right to privacy in my home or on my website. Of course, I’m not going to post email addresses of people who aren’t engaging in deception.

    • Joe Jericho says:

Paul, I respect the way you make your point, but I disagree with it in the following sense. Who is making the statements attributed? Other “reglar” Americans or government employees. When they post comments like FU FU FU and the TSA is great, etc., it helps to know what we are really seeing here, otherwise the whole banter back and forth is deceptive and a waste of time. This is a private site. The owner can do with it what he wants. If the “customer” decides that he or she doesn’t like it, then they can go elsewhere. You cannot apply the same logic to State Action and Constitutional guarantees.

    • “Yet, here you are, publishing e-mail addresses and their associated comments, even going a step further and publishing IP addresses too.”

Do you have any proof that these are real email addresses? A lot of blogging software doesn’t verify the address, it just looks for an email format (characters + @ + characters + .characters). I’ve had my own problems with trolling – from my winner of an ex-girlfriend – and there is virtually never a real email address used, just “[email protected]” or something similar.

Those people gave up their rights when they bought their ticket…I mean committed fraud on this website.

But you do make a good point. Its always better to take the high road.

Perhaps it should say “Your e-mail address will not be published, unless you are a tax-feeding, child-molesting, grandma-groping, lying sack of shit.”

    • John says:

I just filled out the form to reply to you and I didn’t see anything that said my email would be kept private, although it might be somewhere else. I think it’s fair to say that if the TSA wants to violate our right to privacy it’s our right to return the favor. Screw ‘em, and screw being fair, or “noble”. Was the Boston Tea Party “Noble”? Really? Dressing up like Indians and committing theft/vandalism sounds about as noble as a fraternity prank, but the point was made. In fact, it’s still fondly recalled to this day, although surely there were those who thought it beneath them at the time. What were those guys’ names who didn’t want to participate? Oh yeah, that’s right. Nobody cares who they were.

      Don’t kill the messenger.

Incidentally, I like Ian’s idea above. Issue a pistol to all passengers who want one, (or BYO) and see who acts up. Ever been hunting on public land? Everyone complains about how crowded it is and what’s up with all these freakin’ out-of-staters, but when two strangers meet on the road they smile and politely say “Hey buddy, ya seen anything”? Why? Because everybody knows that everybody else is armed!

Who stopped the underwear bomber, the TSA? Nope, it was the passengers. Same for the shoe bomber. In fact, I don’t believe the TSA has ever stopped a terrorist attack, but the passengers have a pretty good record. Since 9/11 the airline passengers have a 100% success rate every single time they’ve gotten involved.

Gunhugger Airlines! Fly as a free man or go get fondled by the G-Man!

    • Tony Wicher says:

I think TSA people should know that people resent what they are doing and I hope they get the message and quit.

  13. Dawn says:

As a Federal employee, I’d be fired in a heartbeat if I posted comments like those above from a government computer. Can you report him…?

  14. BSC says:

I think you should remove the part of your comment form about email addresses not being published.

    • Will. Not. Happen.

EDIT: misread your comment. I removed the “your email won’t be published notice”.

      • foljs says:

I’m no friend with the TSA, but the attitude towards the email/privacy request troubled me.

“Will. Not. Happen.”? How macho. I guess, if you can live with the hypocrisy, it’s fine.

And, really: “You have ZERO right to privacy in my home or on my website”.

Nice to know no one can talk in good faith to you “in your house” and expect you NOT to gossip it and leak it everywhere.

“Of course, I’m not going to post email addresses of people who aren’t engaging in deception”.

Which deception, while in this case was obvious, in every other case it will be according to your, unpublished, criteria of “deception” –and against the statement in your blog that you wont publish “email addresses” PERIOD.

With friends of freedom like that, who needs enemies?

Now, you can delete my comment, since “you are not limited by the first amendment” (sic), or you can post it and revel in your superiority.

        • I’m not much of a reveler.

          There is no hypocrisy here.

“Your email address will not be published” with your comment, when you post it. If I discover evidence of wrongdoing, astroturfing or general malfeasance you better believe I’m going to post it. I’m ethically bound to do so.

          • scarlin says:

I respect your desire to weed out those who would maliciously post with a secret TSA agenda, but, like many of your other readers, I feel compelled to argue against publicly posting your reader’s email addresses.

It would be a fairly simple coding task to place an icon or the text “TSA IP” next to submissions from that IP range. This would clearly expose these people in real time without creating an environment of distrust where people like me become afraid to post and specifically become afraid to use our real email addresses.

I hope that you’ll at least consider this request.

      • Marshall says:

I think it’s completely fair that you publish the emails of the offenders. Not for legitimate commenters, but for this crap, definatley.

I do believe you have stumbled upon someone who was indeed on the clock and is either a civil servant allowing a contractor or two to pick up their slack, or a very naughty contractor who needs to have their option year nixed. I can tell you that nearly every branch of the Federal Government has explicit policies on this. Please, do get your lawyers involved. At the very least, this person deserves disciplinary action. Who knows? Maybe it’s more than some self righteous drone and there really is a conspiracy here to flame and troll the site.

  17. Connie says:

Maybe they need to send the “pick your alias” TSA poster person out to LAX so he can join the TSA choir out there singing Christmas songs to the citizen victims. Might cheer his/her foul mouth self up. (And shame on ABC news for even giving it air time tonight. If TSA employees had been singing for years and years it *might* be a story. That it is happening on the heels of the new strip searches is something else.)

    • Joe Jericho says:

I think it is great. I can get groped and sing along to Jingle Bells with the TSA Choir! What more can you ask for? Sure beats being stuck on the 405 on the way up to LAX anyway. Highlight of my day!!!!

      • John says:

  18. Well_IdontFeelStupid says:

The government stooge is obviously making a valid point. From their perspective he (or she) probably thinks that they’re providing an essential service to the people, and they are but I think this person is losing sight of the implications of whats been going on.

I think everyone paying attention knows the former head of DHS, Michael Chertoff was the one who basically sold these body scanners to the TSA after he left office and has been basically profiting like mad by being a war profiteer and MSM talking head.

So the TSA wants to now force pat downs and cavity searches when you won’t use these new body scanners? Do you think we’ve all gone full retard? That you can keep waving this “fear” flag in our faces and we won’t get used to it and start actually thinking what else is going on?

    Fucking idiots run this country

  19. Kevin says:

LOL, we should sign these people up for mailing lists.

  20. JX says:

Since when is flying considered a privilege to these goons? Last time I checked, as a consumer I had a right to use these services if I paid for them. I didn’t shell out $500+ just for the damn privilege… I had that damn right!

Since when are Americans so ungrateful? Ungrateful for what? For allowing our government to start two wars and attract more terrorists to come and kill us at home instead? Ungrateful for allowing corporations to take away our jobs and give it to people overseas for more hours and less pay? Ungrateful for the government to let banks get away with allowing robo-signers to illegally throw people out on the street? Ungrateful for being forced to give almost half of our earnings every year to pay for meaningless laws and corrupt politicians? Are we really ungrateful when we go out of our way to help donate those in need for natural disasters?

These trolls need to get their brainwashed heads checked. The American people are owed what they give back and then some because we GIVE A LOT ALREADY. I don’t see a lap of luxury across this country. We don’t live like the Kardashians. We all work hard for what we have. I’ll be damned if some snot nosed TSA punk is going to call us out on BS and try and call us lazy good-for-nothings. We’re American. And we have a damn right to fly without being harassed by you grab-ass happy TSA Stasi/Nazi punks.

    • Flying is a privilege when it’s someone else’s plane. It’s a right when the plane is yours. Contracting is essential to the economy. The TSA is getting in between 2 parties to a contract – you and the airline – and arrogating to itself the power to decide if and how that contract will be honored. This is a violation of the right to contract, dangerous and utterly stupid.

      • JX says:

Ok how is it a privilege to fly inside someone else’s plane when it is their business to charge people to ride inside their planes? I always thought if you provide a service, you honor the task you were paid to do and it was no privilege. Once you paid for the seat, you’ve procured your right to ride in it, yes? Is that not what the contract is guaranteeing?

Using the plane for free and with permission, I can see as a privilege and not a right. But the troll comments I read make it seem as though we should kiss the bloody feet of these all mighty airline gods just because we can fly inside their plane even when we pay hard earned money.

      • JX says:

I also wanted to say thank you for putting up this site and allowing me the privilege to air my frustration along with other supporters.

  21. Joe Jericho says:

What a bunch of aholes. You should forward this to this Inspector General’s Office, and those dudes should launch an investigation against these idiots. If they are posting from DHS/TSA, then, yeah, they are doing so on the public nickel. Idiots. I work for the government (non-fed) myself, regretably, but I carry two blackberries. One for work, and one for this kind of stuff. I don’t mix the two. And I do this stuff after hours or when I am off of work. Jesus. Rocket science, huh? I hope all of those TSA aholes lose their jobs after the agency is closed down.

  22. Boso Zoku says:

The TSA proves, every day, that the terrorists of the world have won. They’ve changed our lifestyle for the worse.

We have lost our privacy, both physical and electronic. Every single person who flies commercially in the US (small children included) is subject to harassment, both physical and mental. And why? To make the public think that the government is doing something.

It’s “Security Theater.” Here is its definition in Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_theater

  23. Sam says:

I’m never going to fly unless it’s to leave America for good. The terrorists have won but you can’t take anything away from a man with no desire.

  24. Steve says:

You have ZERO right to privacy in my home or on my website. Of course, I’m not going to post email addresses of people who aren’t engaging in deception.

So much for not publishing email addresses. Sadly, it is people like you that are actually setting TSA policy. It is easy, at times, to think that rules and policies don’t apply to you since “you make the policy”. While some of the comments were poorly thought out and in bad taste, most were simply view points that were different than yours. Yep the true “liberal” view comes to light. Is this true? If you helped administer the TSA, would you think this is just a concept with no expectation to be followed:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Here is hope that you are man enough and strong enough in your convictions to either:

    • Quick refresher course in constitutional law: it only applies to the government. It does not apply to individuals.

      • Steve says:

Quick refresher on governments. They are composed of people.

This is a simple concept that has totally gone by your narrow-minded view. Policies are made by individuals based on their understandings of the world. Some policies are good and others are down right bad. From an “ethics” standpoint It does not matter if it is on a “private” website or a government. On your site, you expressed a simple policy:

Your email address will not be published.

BTW: For a refresher on what a policy is:

policy: a course or principle of action adopted or proposed by a government, party, business, or individual

Out of fear, anger and hatred of others view-points, you broke your own policy and even convinced yourself your actions were not only warranted but “ethical”. How would you react on making and abiding by policy if you ever were in a position to effect real change that really impacted real people? I suspect very very poorly.

I truly hope that in the future, you never find yourself in the position to make polices in the areas of law, government or corporations. It is plain that you would never be able to show the restraint to follow even policies you laid out.

        • I have a policy of outing govt goons who pose as regular people in order to pull off an astroturfing campaign of whatever size. This supersedes most all other policies.

That was not a policy btw, it simply comes with the website software by default.

I’m not the government. Do you believe yourself to be? If so please shut down the TSA.

Get it right, the people are not the government.

I also support the decision to out them. The public needs to see who these people are. Someone with this kind of temper should never be put in position of power over another.

I also got a kick out of the fact that they think they are heroes. They must feed them that garbage day and night.

“Wow so what you people want is a Private Security firm with no accountability to take over a Federalized, controlled, accountable and impregnable screening force.”

ROFL! You mean the impregnable screening force that recently let the guy with the loaded .40 gun get through? And exactly what kind of accountability do these people have anyway? Gov’t bureaucracies are notorious for their LACK of accountability. When they fail, what happens? “Oh, we need more funding to do our jobs!” And then they get it. If a private firm fails to do the job, they will be quickly booted in favor of somebody else that’s hungry for it.

This just proves what we already knew, that these TSA people are bunch of parasitic morons.

  26. Liberty or Death says:

So what we have are a bunch of useless eaters, oxygen thieves, and bullying retarded parasites who is taking WWF to task for pointing out the obvious and self evident truth: that those who stoop to working for as vile an institution as .gov are a bunch of useless eaters, oxygen thieves, and bullying retarded parasites.

The good news. There is no real terrorist threat. If there were, nothing .gov could do to stop a spate of arsons and high profile active shooter incidents (a la Mumbai), though, an armed citizen at the right time and place could put a dent in the latter.

The DHS tools who claim credit for the dearth of terror attacks are lying sacks of shit. If they had been preventing any actual terror incidents – being the publicity hungry and self aggrandizing morons they are – they would have been trumpeting these successes all over the Dinosaur Media 24/7.

All I know is my Grandma asked me to take a few gift tins of her homemade fudge down to the family tomorrow, and what I don’t know is whether or not one of these TSA geniuses is gonna force me to leave it behind. The fact that we can no longer rely on common sense infuriates me beyond words. And I can’t help but wonder if all this is part of a (yet another?) deliberate effort at conditioning us all into a more docile, submissive herd.

The TSA trolls think that we at wewontfly have “bottle collecting jobs” and raise our families to be “cynical, skeptical and totally paranoid.” Let me tell them about myself. I am a licensed professional educator who is very active in my field. Part of the licensing is an extensive background and fingerprint check prior to employment. Through the years as I have taken jobs with increasing levels of responsibility, I have repeatedly been “cleared” in these background checks. I sit on the board of directors at my church, and am constantly turning down offers to join other boards (local chapters of Salvation Army and YMCA being among them). I attend church every week. My wife and I are very active in our son’s education, meeting regularly with his teachers and helping him do his homework every day. And we are readying to adopt another child soon, putting our values into practice. I volunteer my time to teach civics, values and world-cultures to the children of my church. Most people would call us model citizens.

By comparison, the TSA agent who decides whether I can board a plane makes (according to the trolls) $14.50 per hour. The trolls tell us that these agents are just trying to make a living and that they would be happy with fewer passengers because that would mean they wouldn’t have to work as hard. That’s not a flattering picture. The trolls tell us that we must give up our constitutionally protected liberty so that they can protect us from the evildoers among us. How cynical, skeptical, and totally paranoid.

Are there any background checks for TSA agents prior to employment? What pressure are they under to get people through the gate? Is there a quota that makes them reject people on occasion? None of this is known. What we DO know is that these cynical, paranoid people are deciding who to judge, a job for which they are poorly compensated. Oh, how secure that makes me feel. And knowing these agents are supported by people who write things like “Fuck you, Fuck all you cocksuckers” in a public forum where children might be reading? No, not scary in the least.
