We flew out of Vegas from our vacation there the end of March and encountered the Full Body Scanner. We were not informed what it was and everyone was blindly being herded through it with no explanation of what it was. There had been no publicity about it yet but I realized what it was as I was being herded into it and objected. With a menacing look and in a harsh voice he asked “Ya gotta problem with this?!” I replied “Yes, I don’t want to be RADIATED!” Then he told me how “safe” it was. I was not told of another choice so I relented but felt violated, treated like a criminal, and angry. I worked in Radiology for 15 years and told the female attendant as I was leaving that radiation unwinds your DNA and saw the surprise in her eyes.
This is yet another story that show the utter lack of responsibility in evidence from the TSA. They’re not telling people what to expect. We’re being forced to into something without informed consent. In Linda’s case, they didn’t even offer her the patdown option. It’s plain wrong. That’s why we’re going to educate the public on Opt Out Day. This situation might work to the TSA’s favor, but not to ours.

So true, I did a bit of research about a year ago after my first encounter (but they were still very new) so I found out nothing. I looked a bit more after I was scanned a second time, and now will opt out. Of course all my info comes from places other than the TSA because they just tow the line of it being “safe and secure”
