Here’s a great idea posted over at Reddit. When someone opts out, respond to the TSA intimidation and eye-rolling with cheering and clapping. Together we are strong.

Yep. It seems they’re trying to single the optee out, embarrass them, call attention to them in a negative fashion. Play it like grade school – turn it around on them. Cheer, clap, and yell OPT OUT in celebration every time they do it.

Think about the response if the entire line started cheering every time they had an opt out.

3 Responses to Reddit: Clap and Cheer When Travelers Opt Out

    OR

Once they announce you have opted out, put your hands behind your head with your fingers interlocked, or straight up over your head.

  2. Joe Jericho says:

Unprofessional TSA agents. If we are supposed to keep our mouths shut going through the process, they might want to do the same thing. In fact, I think professional decorum demands it.

    Behavioral Profiling; the obvious alternative

Like a kid with an expensive high tech toy they eagerly hover over the zapper button as fresh guinea pigs waive their rights to opt out of a decision that could eventually prove to be, not good.
The Government’s right hand airport security man, the TSA, is all about intimidation. Taking advantage of the unaware or uninformed, using scare tactics with threats of jail and hefty fines as a way to coerce people into these multi-million dollar XXX-ray machines. There is a better way to persuade us into these porno scanners. How about politely offering the available alternatives, being that according to the TSA, these alternatives exist. Albeit just shy of molestation and totally humiliating, it is our choice and not a secret last chance option.
No one believes these agents look forward to something so inconceivably wrong. They’re only doing their job; although many of us may not understand why they presently choose to keep such a job, besides the obvious, but we all very well know this wasn’t originally part of their job description.

It’s all part of their (our government and the TSA) plan. Intimidate and humiliate if you refuse to radiate. This is all taking place because our government refuses to admit that there is a proven and better alternative, namely; behavioral profiling. Immoral? invasive? Really???? And the current humiliating, molesting like groping and full body radiation imaging exposures our children and elderly are being subjected to AREN’T invasive, or immoral???? So, unlike these officials who aren’t required to experience these atrocities, the rest of us who love our country or served and are serving our country, would fight or are fighting for our country and are proud of our country and have lived generation after generation in this country….. Well, we’re just lumped in with and treated as though we were the exact opposite. Yes, just like an uncommon every day run of the mill household “terrorist”.
Opting out IS a healthy alternative to full body radiation exposure, at least you will feel secure in knowing you weren’t pumped full of cancer causing death rays. Whether proven or not, better to be safe than to discover you might be fighting cancer sometime in your near future. Why do you think dentists and doctors cover your chest and genitals and then leave the room during x-rays? Hmmmm, well it ain’t because your deodarant ran out. Yet still, people, not unlike cattle, are willingly herded to the symbolic “slaughter box”, arms raised to the sky exposing themselves in the name of security?
Yes, we all deserve and prefer to be safe and not blown to bits, no one disputes this; excluding the terrorist of course but, this can be prevented by other means, namely, Behavioral Profiling.
It’s been proven that scanners and dogs cannot detect certain explosives and although Israel’s Gurion airport has 40 flights per day versus 1,400 at LAX this does not discount the fact that a nervous, bomb toting terrorist with such undetectables on his/her person, is easily revealed through a series of simple, normal, routine questions. If he or she is packing a load of under garment explosives then under behavioral profiling tactics, their reaction to the questioning will be an easy indicator and a successful tragedy thwarting capture.
If we aren’t guilty, suspicious or up to no good then, we’re cool, we’re good to go. Behavioral profiling sure beats being fondled or XXX-rayed. T his style of security isn’t about treating the innocent guilty or falsely accusing someone or invading their privacy. It is not something to take personal. It is about protecting all of us by questioning everyone and it’s designed to eliminate the possible threat, aka, Mr. or Mrs. Terrorist. An Oscar winning actor could not act their way out of this routine questioning because it’s just human nature’s natural reaction to be agitated or nervous or scared and under duress if one is guilty while being questioned.
And it works. A group/team effort, a pool of understanding cooperation by all and no one gets x-rayed and ogled in the nude or fondled by a dude.
It will definitely be something to see or be a part of when so many in line at the airports praisingly applaud the those who opt out while simultaneously showing their lack of support for the present useless overpriced gas chamberian fly zapper- box presently in play.
More power to you who opt out, it’s good to know there are those who won’t stand for this sort of forced exposure.
