People who do bad things often times rely on their intended victims to hide the very nature of the crime. They do this by cooperating with the attacker in subtle ways that don’t hide the most brutal or shocking aspects of the crime. The speedo protest breaks that particular tactic. It lays bare the essential nature of what the TSA is doing. It is simply too much raw, unadulterated truth for the TSA. That may be why they refused to screen him while he was wearing the speedo. This is a really smart tactic.

Ridiculous.
Unbelievable that they are treating people like this.
So, he gives them full view and access to his body and they refuse to pat him down and allow him through. They rather feel him up with clothes. Even after they clearly see the surgical scar.
I believe this is a way to control people and make them totally submit to their baloney they have going on.
Whats next? I;m sure there is more. UGH
You’re sure there is more? What could *possibly* make you think such a thing? Administrator Pistole himself said that TSA has ‘reached the public limit” (https://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703989004575652651928049266.html).
Wow…I actually said that with a straight face. Anyway, you are right about control and making people submit to TSA’s garbage. It is about power, plain and simple. And I’m fed up with it. John, you haven’t *reached* the public’s limit, you stepped well beyond it.
Isn’t it obvious? It’s all part of his strategy.
First, get hip surgery then, board planes many times per year, kinda get to know all of the TSA folks on a personal level, you gotta gain their trust because this blowin up a plane business well, it’s a process that involves a major surgery and thousands of frequent flier miles. Eventually you’ll establish a first name basis and before you know it……
Hey, it’s the scar hip guy, always so cooperative, and streamlined too in his sporty little speedo, we love that guy, look, he loves us too, what a guy, if only everyone wore swim wear, Damn if he doesn’t set that metal detector off every time though, when’s he going to learn? He should’ve had’m install one of those special TSA removable hips, you know, just unzips at the hip, sucker pops right out, we hose it off, stick it in a tub and send it through the xray scanner but whattaya gonna do? Yeah, some people.
Well eventually, all of his planning will finally pay off, he will foil big Sis and all of the security circus, he will gain their trust and acceptance and eventually the TSA will figure it out and wave him on through and KUH-BOOM!
All it takes is a little patience and persistence, the speedo is just a distraction.
Damn those speedos!
It’s just another example of the TSA cracking down on the weakest and the most vulnerable in our society–the elderly and the disabled. FLYING WHILE DISABLED IS THE NEW DRIVING WHILE BLACK. It’s government sanctioned discrimination at its worst.
The TSA can’t help it, they are the lowest common denominator of American society. They are only just lower that welfare recipients because they pretend to have a job. Remember, the TSA is paid with Tax Revenue, just like welfare.
I hate the idea of flying with any of my children and the potential for “the pat down”. How do I tell my 13 yo daughter that it’s ok for a stranger to feel her up at the airport? I need to point out however, the men and women at the airport that do these pat downs don’t make the policy. They are people with a really sucky job. Direct your attacks at the people responsible for this nonsense.
I bet concentration camp guards had a pretty sucky job too. But a hundred years of legal precedent holds that obeying an unconstitutional order is still a violation, even if it came from the top. These guards at concentration camps are prosecuted for the part they played in that genocide, and while the TSA is not killing people, they are still forcing unconstitutional search & seizure on the public with out due process supported by an affidavit of probably cause. That is a violation plain and simple. Being on a watch list (and by now, every identifiable vocal critic of the TSA is on the DHS list) is not probably cause since the list is as haphazard as wild card partial name matches.
“Last name? “Smith?” Well we heard from some guy in Libya that terrorists use that name, so on the list you go, step over here for the groping.”
Police officers cannot give you an unconstitutional order (and be immune from prosecution), so why does the TSA?
This is called “we will abuse you but under our terms thank you very much”! It just shows their clear intent is harassment not safety. Good on people like this, we need to continue to try different methods to underline the stupidity of this whole thing.
Being told to do the wrong thing and then doing it still makes you liable. I hold TSA employees just as responsible as the administration.
Plus, there are many that like this new power they have been given and clearly abuse it. I’ll take my chance with the other terrorists.
they’re just following orders. wow. that explanation works now. why? to the chagrin of wwii vets, the nazis won. in the very very end, the bad guys are winning. I love this guy though- he shows what security theater it truly is…just a show (don’t forget, all the support staff aren’t scanned either)
WTF? Why make him put on clothes; with just the Speedo, they can see more. The point of patting down clothes is to check what’s hidden in the clothes. Without the clothes, there’s nothing to check! A visual check is sufficient–he’s not hiding explosives! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sigh. (deep breath) This is the height of insanity.
Government at it’s best.
Y’all ready to secede from Washington D.C., yet? If not, what will it take?
