There is no acceptable compromise to our safety on airplanes. If the body scans will prevent these "Virgin chasing fanatics" from killing me or killing my family, so be it. I am sure that technology will move forward to make it appear less evasive but until that time, accept it. There is no compromise when it comes to flying safety of the public. Don't like it, travel by bus, train, or rental car or do like Orrin Hatch does, catch a Corporate Jet with wine and a personal flight attendant. You can take off on the other side of the Airport without a body scan and fly in style. But you will have to get elected to the US Senate and take bribes to get those Corporate Jet tickets. Might not be worth it.Mikeguru
There is no compromise when it comes to my human rights. I have a right to make my own decisions in concert with other people. A contract with an airline, in the form of a plane ticket, is an example of that. TSA gets in the middle of our agreement, trampling my right to make my own decisions. We need *effective* security that doesn’t compromise human rights.
It’s sad to see people so thoroughly scared that they’re determined not only to cede all of their rights in the name of an illusory safety, but also lean on their fellow man to do the same.
There can be no safety unless we all first respect each other’s human rights.

What evidence is there that the machines have/will ever actually catch a terrorist?
Living in fear and completely trampling the 4th amendment is no way to live as a free person.
There is no guarantee. In fact, TSA has admitted the machines wouldn’t have detected the kind of bomb used by the underwear bomber, the event which they use to justify the rollout of the scanners.
